KLEBEKAH APPRECIATION WEEK
day 5 - most heartbreaking moment

"You have no idea, do you? You have no idea what she was prepared to do for you. When our sister sees something that she perceives to be an injustice, she can be stubborn, impetuous, and, at times, downright dangerous, and never was this more apparent than the night she tried to kill our father. It is the truth. I was there. And she would have done it,
all to protect you, had I not stopped her.”

The entire episode made me cry from the beginning to the end. That flashback with Klaus and Rebekah as kids was so beautiful, and at the same time so painful compared to how things turned 1000 years later, even if the love was still there.

1x16 is probably my favourite episode of the first season. For sure, it’s the most heartbreaking to me. It truly broke my heart - I didn’t expect an episode like that, I wasn’t prepared at all for the emotions it gave me.

I loved seeing the flashback of the time when they were humans and the revelations that where hidden behind their memories. At the present time Klaus and Rebekah were dealing with the fact that she summoned Mikael, and seeing her ready to kill Mikael for her brother in the past… it was even more painful.

It’s an episode where you understand that despite they’re broken, despite how things turned, despite the hate - their love prevails. I don’t think Rebekah wanted him dead, as I don’t think Klaus wanted to kill her. But after everything they went through they came to a point of understanding and forgiveness. Rebekah saw that there was still hope for Klaus, and he realized that his behaviour and his actions had broken Rebekah’s heart.

That’s why I think Klaus let her go. He realized Rebekah needed it. She needed her indipendence. Despite setting her free hurts him, he does it anyway - I’m sure with the hope that someday she will return.

And then the part that made me cried the most… actually two parts made me cry the most - one is when Rebekah was the only one who confronted Mikael and successively was ready to kill him, the other one was seeing Klaus opening the box with the toy he gave Rebekah when they were kids, when he promised to always stay with her.
